Andrew Moran provides research and coordination support to the MENA team’s Syria portfolio, including its projects documenting attacks against health facilities and personnel and the detention of health-care providers.
Prior to joining PHR, Andrew served as the Protection of Civilians/International Humanitarian Law intern at InterAction where he worked to advance policies improving civilian harm mitigation and redress by the U.S. government and its security partners. Before that, Andrew worked for MedGlobal, advocating for refugees, migrants, and internally displaced persons in humanitarian crises settings around the world. His work included research on COVID-19’s impact on access to health care for vulnerable populations, with a focus on Sudan, Syria, and Yemen. Andrew also interned with the State Department’s Bureau of Conflict and Stabilization Operations and the Political Section of the U.S. Embassy in Berlin.
Andrew holds a BA in Political Science, with a focus on conflict and the Middle East and North Africa, from Yale University. He is proficient in Arabic.
