Gaffar Mohamed, FCCA, CPA

As Director of Finance, Gaffar Mohamed has direct responsibility for the organization’s budget and finance-related activities, including assisting in developing a fiscal strategy, creating projections and reports, managing payroll, accounts payables and receivables, cash disbursements, the general ledger, and the technology and other systems used to manage PHR financial systems.

Prior to joining PHR, Mohamed was the Chief Financial Officer at the nonprofit Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone Development Corporation for six years, overseeing all financial operations. Previously he was Senior Vice President and Controller at the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation where he established and maintained policies and procedures for financial and budgetary control, ensured timely month-end and year-end close, and prepared monthly and annual financial reports. Earlier in his career, Mohamed was an Audit Supervisor at Mitchell Titus, Certified Public Accountants. He attended Luton College of the University of Bedfordshire in England and qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant. He also attended the New York Institute of Technology, as well as Baruch and York Colleges of the City University of New York, in preparation of his CPA certification. Mohamed is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and is licensed to practice as a CPA in New York State.
