Maila Gamatero is responsible for monitoring programmatic and financial grant/funder commitments and related reporting to funders; aiding in general financial forecasting and modeling; and instituting new best practices in these areas. She handles all grant budgets, grant funding planning and allocations, and funder budget to actual reconciliations.
Gamatero has more than 14 years of experience in grant management. Prior to joining PHR, she managed a diverse portfolio of grants, where she oversaw the full grant lifecycle, including building budget, overseeing monthly reconciliation of budget versus actuals for all grants and programs, submitting financial reports to federal and local governments, training colleagues on budget processes and best practices for financial management, and other critical responsibilities to ensure that program, finance, and development were working in sync. Among her past employers are Community Development Project, Central Queens Y, and East Side House Settlement.
Gamatero holds a BS in accountancy from the University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao in the Philippines. She is proficient in Tagalog and Ilocano (a native language in the Philippines).
