As Deputy Director of PHR’s Communications department, Hannah Dunphy helps manage the strategic communications of PHR, ensuring they are engaging and competitive. With two decades of experience in the international human rights movement, Dunphy brings specialized expertise in digital design, multimedia production, and ethical human rights storytelling. She leads creative and technical direction of content development, branding, and digital advocacy campaigns on PHR’s global work. She joined PHR in 2019.
Prior to PHR, she led communications for Justice Rapid Response and digital communications at the International Center for Transitional Justice in New York. She has designed communications strategies and led campaigns for UN Women and the American NGO Coalition for the International Criminal Court, and spent five years as a human rights organizer, trainer, and advocate with Amnesty International USA. Over her career she has led the production of field-based reporting on mass atrocity investigations and transitional justice processes in countries including the Democratic Republic of the Congo, The Gambia, Mali, Syria, Tunisia, and the United States.
Dunphy holds a Master of Arts from the New School in International Affairs and a Bachelor of Arts from New York University in International Criminal Justice and Post-Conflict Resolution. She is proficient in Spanish.
