Eleven human rights, humanitarian and advocacy organizations, including Physicians for Human Rights, sent a letter to the 15 members of the UN Security Council today urging them to deploy a UN peacekeeping force in Darfur as soon as possible. The letter also asked the SC members to immediately strengthen and reinforce the African Union force currently serving in Darfur, and to increase funding for cash-strapped humanitarian programs.
