Weapons | Prohibited Weapons

International human rights law explicitly forbids the use of indiscriminate weapons in war.

Over the past three decades, governments in Iraq and Syria have unleashed devastating attacks on their own citizens using chemical weapons that cause slow, agonizing deaths. In countries around the world, landmines continue to exact a deadly toll even years after the end of the conflicts that sowed them.

International human rights law explicitly prohibits the use of weapons like chemical agents and landmines that kill indiscriminately and terrorize entire populations. PHR has been in the forefront of exposing the use and documenting the health impact of these killers.
