Health and Human Rights Crisis in Ethiopia | An Explainer by PHR and OJAH

Hospitals destroyed. Health workers targeted. Survivors of sexual violence left without care. Ethiopia’s escalating human rights crisis demands urgent attention – and action.

Physicians for Human Rights (PHR) and the Organization for Justice and Accountability in the Horn of Africa (OJAH) have documented attacks on health care and the devastating consequences of sexual and reproductive violence. Behind every finding are people whose lives, health, and futures have been and continue to be profoundly impacted by violence. They are survivors who deserve justice.

The world should not look away. We call for protection of civilians and health workers, access to lifesaving care, support for survivors, and independent investigations that preserve evidence, fight impunity and advance accountability. Watch to understand what is happening in Ethiopia – and share to help break the silence. Continued impunity will only fuel continued violence.
