Barbara Pirto heads up all finance functions at PHR as its Director of Finance. She is responsible for all financial operations and oversees all external and internal financial reporting including audits, tax filings, financial planning, executive management reports, and donor reports accounting, budgeting, audits, and all financial policies and procedures.
She comes to PHR after 30 years working as the Director of Finance and Administration at Human Rights Watch. At HRW Barbara evolved the organization from one with an operating budget of $7M, 65 employees, 3 offices, and no Endowment to one with an operating budget of $110M, over 650 employees, with 30 offices all over the world, and an $180M Endowment.
Barbara is the Treasurer of the Board of Trustees for All Survivors Project, Lichtenstein, holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and information Systems, is a CPA, and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
