As Grants Manager, Monicah Nyagachatha plays a vital role in supporting the Director of Finance by assisting in report preparation for Executive Management. Her responsibilities include developing overhead rates, acting as a liaison between finance, development, and program teams, and collaborating with colleagues across the organization. Her primary duties involve creating accurate budgets for grant proposals, aiding in grant renewal and extensions, participating in budget preparation and revision, overseeing staff time allocation, collaborating with external auditors for grant-related audits, and maintaining accurate financial records.
Before joining PHR, Monicah gained valuable experience at Technoserve as a Regional Accountant for West and Central Africa. In this role, she oversaw financial management and ensured grant compliance for partners involved in project implementation. Her responsibilities included coordinating sub-award financial and program reporting, ensuring sub-award compliance, managing treasury operations, optimizing cash flow, budget preparation, variance monitoring, bank reconciliation, donor reporting, and facilitating audits. Additionally, Monicah worked as a Senior Accountant at the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe), where she played an instrumental role in overseeing financial management and ensuring grant compliance for partners involved in project implementation.
Monicah holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance and is a certified public accountant, as well as a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK). She fluent in Swahili
