Glamour magazine and powerHouse books have announced the release of In Search of Hope: The Global Diaries of Mariane Pearl, with a foreword by Angelina Jolie. PHR’s East African partner and 2006 Health and Human Rights Award winner, Dr. Julian Atim, is featured in the book.
Mariane Pearl traveled the globe for Glamour magazine in 2006 to profile courageous women and show that hope is stronger than fear. In Search of Hope: The Global Diaries of Mariane Pearl introduces readers to twelve brave women who make the world a more just place despite personal hardship, discouraging odds, and death threats. The book features over 200 unpublished images from Pearl’s travels.
Dr. Julian Atim is a Ugandan AIDS orphan-turned-doctor fighting for health rights in her country. PHR honored Dr. Atim with a Health and Human Rights Award for her courageous work in 2006. She met with Mariane Pearl in Uganda in April 2007.
